Important to have a personal relationship with your MD. He has a good bedside manner. I feel like he’s really “working with me.” Compliments Dr. Hult really well with the natural approach, staying away from the drugs. Dr. De La Cruz is always doing research, staying on top of things. I had had an overall improvement in general in my energy, health and general diet. I also eat a lot better and feel better per his suggestions.

Zeenat A. (45)

I’ve been seeing Dr. De La Cruz for 3 years. I got his name through a mutual friend. I came for Fibromyalgia and fatigue. I couldn’t drive (due to lack of concentration), could barely get out of bed, overall pain and just not feeling well. He put me on thyroid medication, but changes in my diet were key. He took me off grains, and sugar. , Later, after he told me to do a lectin-free diet and I never felt better. “The worst days right now, are the best days I had before I saw Dr. De La Cruz.” Overall, I’m doing really well. I am off medications, like Cymbalta and I sleep much better.

Robert M. (64)

I had been feeling fatigued, depressed, low energy, cold hands, cold feet and a low pulse rate. “Unlike every other doctor, he suggested I try some thyroid medication, even though my lab tests were in normal limits.” He started me on the Ultra Clear and gave me his “clean and healthy” smoothie recipe. The thyroid medication made a huge difference. I felt 20 years younger. He is very different than other doctors. He is willing to listen to what I have to say. It feels more like a relationship with equals rather than someone in an authority position.

I got Dr. De La Cruz’s name through ageology. I was having a lot of issues with my hormones, weight gain, hair loss, etc. I felt like he really took the time to listen and explain to me what he thought was going on. I felt like I left the consultation with answers. He suggested healthier eating as well as staying away from the grains and sugars. Overall, I felt more calm and at peace. He has a very good bedside manner and really works with you to get you where you want to be.

Heard DLC on the radio and liked that he was part of Dr. Hult’s practice (McHenry). Like the self-health ideas and his book because its more direct, “ a recipe for your life.” Having terrible anxiety, breath awareness helped a lot. Just having a doctor who understands spirituality is very comforting. He is a great listener. Soothes the soul.

I originally came in for sinus pressure, post nasal drip, pain in my ears and difficulty breathing. I was taking zyrtec and ibuprofen daily. Dr. De La Cruz told me to cut out dairy. Within 4-5 days all my symptoms were gone. Since then, I’ve been staying off dairy altogether. I used to have a glass of milk at night and eat cheese daily. Now I am off of it altogether, and I feel great. I don’t take Zyrtec or ibuprofen anymore.

My husband called Dr. Gundry to see if there was a doctor located in Chicago that followed his diet. My husband was then told about Dr. De La Cruz and then came in to see him. He was really impressed with his practice and encouraged me to come see him too. I had been on cholesterol medication for years (varying types). My cholesterol had increased in the last 6 months. I started having symptoms of severe hypersensitivity in my feet. I decided to get off cholesterol meds. Dr. De La Cruz encouraged me further that I didn’t need the medications. Within 2 weeks, I was back to walking 2-3 miles a day without pain or symptoms. I was still dealing with confusion and feeling spacey. Those symptoms are completely gone now. I feel “so much better.”

I found Dr. De La Cruz online. Originally, I was just coming in for an overall checkup. I was also having weight issues as well as stress and fatigue. Dr. De La Cruz immediately suggested changing my diet and educated me on staying away from grains, eating more greens, and taking certain supplements. He also introduced to me to his “clean and healthy” smoothie. Now I take it twice a day. After a couple weeks, I started to feel more focused, have more energy, feel less stressed and lost 20 lbs. I’ve had an overall improvement in my health and quality of life.

I came to Dr. De La Cruz because I was taking too many medications and having bad reactions. Rush referred me to Dr. De La Cruz. I like that he uses a more natural way of healing than using pharmaceuticals. He had me change my diet and I felt better immediately. I used to have shoulder pain and it’s completely gone. I have lost some weight too. I also have a lot more energy. “I think I’m on the right track.”

Joel S. (35)

I came to see Dr. De La Cruz for anxiety issues. I ended up in the hospital with cellulitis of the knee. I had a great doctor who said I had autoimmune deficiency. Came back to DLC and told him about it, doc put me on the Paleo diet. Really hard to change diet. Started with just getting rid of grains, “Grains to greens”. Always really sore and tired. Anxiety got better, soreness better, infections cleared faster. Used to be on a lot of antibiotics, and now rarely need them.

I’ve been struggling with IBS for over 2.5 years. I was feeling really frustrated. I would have bowel movements that would keep me in the bathroom for 4 hours. It was very debilitating. Initially I went to Rush Medical Center. All they wanted to do was give me meds. I didn’t want to take that approach. Finally I found Dr. De La Cruz because I wanted someone who was a more holistic MD. I’ve been on the Dr. Gundry diet, with no lectins for 3 weeks and I feel 100% better. Now down to maybe 1-2 40 minute bowel movements a day. I have lots of energy back. My sleep is better and my sinuses are better.

Sherri H. (53)

I came to see to see Dr. De La Cruz because I was having terrible hot flashes, body aches, insomnia, fuzzy thinking and I couldn’t lose weight. I was continuously gaining weight. I had bad allergies and asthma. No doctors ever said to increase the greens or take away the grains. I wasn’t getting any help with the hormones. His suggestion to change my diet along with the bioidentical hormones really helped. My DHEA levels being addressed really helped. None of my doctors ever addressed the hormonal issues that were underlying everything. My new diet completely cured my Plantar fasciitis and I have no pain in my feet anymore.

Came because I was having a problem with my thyroid.  TSH was normal, but something was off. He put me on ½ grain thyroid and recommended I go grain-free for the antibodies, and now my antibody levels are normal. Feel all around much better being grain-free. Digestion is much better. I have more energy and am now taking more vitamins. I didn’t even know about hemoglobin A1C (test for diabetes). It was high and has already gone down from 6.2 to 5.7.

Dr. De la Cruz knows what he is talking about when it comes to self-health!  I was weighing in at 161 (I am only 5 feet) when I had my bloodwork done which came back awful...pre-diabetes, thyroid out of wack, high cholesterol, both HDL and LDL  numbers in the wrong direction.  I felt so bad that I thought I would finally follow his recommendations of cutting out grains & dairy.  I started in February 2015, and today is April 9, 2015 and I have had a loss of 20 lbs.  I look better, but most importantly I FEEL BETTER.  It wasn’t too hard, because I felt so satisfied with cooking my Brussel sprouts, broccoli, and mushrooms in coconut oil.  YUM.  What flavor!  I had huge salads with olives and avocados.  Once in a while I would have a ½ cup of a grain or goat cheese, but I wasn’t missing it. I am hooked on eggs cooked every which way.  And for dessert, I make my own custard which consists of a couple of whole eggs, a cup of unsweetened almond or coconut milk, a teaspoon of vanilla, and stevia sweetener to taste. I whisk it in a glass bowl, sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg on top and bake in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.  It doesn’t look pretty, but eating it hot or cold is the best treat for me.  I ate pierogis and chocolate cream pie and drank several glasses of wine at Easter and enjoyed it very much but I felt sick the next day with a headache and nausea. I am back on track and on my way to find out my new and improved blood results.

I heard about Dr. De La Cruz from my aunt who is a patient of his. I had been experiencing difficulty breathing and IBS symptoms for almost a year. I’ve had flare ups with IBS since my early 20’s. My white blood count was also high and no one could figure out why. He put me on the Ultra Clear smoothies, dairy-free and lectin-free diet and lost 15 lbs within a month. Now I don’t take my inhaler anymore and haven’t had as many stomach issues.
